As a security professional I can tell you that whoever is giving you that bad advice does not know what they're talking about.

If you are paying for a security suite and you know how to use it and have no major problems using it.. then I would advise you to stick with it, to make sure it is their complete suite (ie, 360), to ensure it is properly configured and kept completely up to date.

The only people who will knock norton and hock freeware are biased people who are not true professionals. The best advice I can give you is to stop listening to them and trust in something called ''common sense'' which is the cornerstone to good security.

I would also recommend you ensure your OS is completely up to date with windows updates.

Good Luck

AVG is a secuity program that is free.
go to microsoft.com and follow the links to downlaod windows defender its free from microsoft i have it and its greate
I'm not gonna tell you that you can use a crack, serial or keygen. ( www.warez.com ) But I can tell you AVG is a free antivirus system. I also would recommend ''ad-aware'', although some people prefer spybot. Another great program is called ''Tune-Up-Utilities'' and there are free firewalls floating around too. All easy to use and offer a fair amount of protection.
first u need to understand what security are u taking about. antivirus, firewalls, spywares etc are reactive security, meaning they work when ur computer is hacked, contains malicious codes. what good is that??! what u want is no malicious codes in ur computer in the first place. so i suggest u look at proactive security. netsafa policy control allows u to set whatever settings u want for internet, application, process and external device. free download at www.netsafa.com. try it and u will be satisfied, i'm sure.
c cleaner and zone alarm are both brill and both have a free vershion or a payble 1
you can use free Avg software it's by a company call Grisoft. Run that with Adware and you should be safe, I run both on my Xp Pro and virus safe 3 years.
