My wife upgraded our computer to IM7 and now having problems?

When trying to access the web, it comes up with message that says Access is Forbidden, contact your Access Controller, we have adjusted the security levels downwards slightly, and it allowed us in, but now it is again saying Access Denied, and if we lower security any more, we get another message saying unknown zone and we are denied again

My wife upgraded our computer to IM7 and now having problems?norton internet security

there may be a problem with your antivirus or anti spyware program

My norton internet security is coming up for renewal...can I run the firewall and use a free antivir

Will free antivirus run ok with norton still on computer ?

My norton internet security is coming up for renewal...can I run the firewall and use a free antivirus ?norton

sure, you just have to turn off the antivirus. I assume you have the security suite 05 or something. Just bring up norton and go to antivirus, turn off antivirus and youre good to go. A good free antivirus is Avast, you can get it at download.com, it works very well, just make sure you dont run both antivirus programs at the same time, they would probably have a problem with each other running.

AVG will work with Norton, BUT.. when you don't renew Norton, the virus database doesn't update. I was running last year's Norton with AVG (free). Neither said I had a virus, but I knew I had one from my pc acting goofy.

I found avast.com and downloaded their free antivirus. It found two viruses. I uninstalled Norton, and now run AVG and Avast. I just haven't remembered to uninstall AVG. I think I'll do that now!
Yes, it will, but be sure to get a good free antivirus. Most people use ''Kaspersky Anti-virus''.
uninstall norton and then reinstall from disk and thats to say only if you kept a back up copy with the code you should get another year only if it asks you to regester it failing that you must remove it completely before installing another anti-virus or it may conflict with each other that said if you use your comp for internet banking, pay for the new version do not trust any free anti-virus such as avast its got more holes in it than a pair of tights and as for zone alarm well hell you may as well install spyware straight from a disk
i was running norton on me puter but could tell there was something not right after asking around i took norton off and put avg on it found 3 virus that norton was not picking up i also us zone alarm as me fire wall thes both programmes are free and i been using them for 3 years now and wouldnt change them for norton if they were giving it away good luck hope this helps get your free downloads at download.com
you have to let go of norton craps, go to symantec.com, there's a norton removal tool there, but first install my personal choice of free anti-virus, Avast 4 Home Edition; go to avast.com, download the 4.7 home edition, don't forget to register for free so that you can avail of 14 months real time protection and free regular database and program updates.

install ZoneAlarm Firewall Free version 6.5.722 from download.com or freewarefiles.com, this will be your new firewall. it's compatible with Avast

good luck, cheers!
I use AVG Free http://free.grisoft.com and Zonealarm 6.0 (Free) from www.zonealarm.com . Not tried Zonealarm 6.5 (latest) as of yet.

Remember to keep AVG up to date and you will be fine.
I tried unistalling and then reinstalling- didnt work ( even when u uninstall a program some info is left)- had to format my machine then reinstall to get another years subscription, works every year and I still get free updates!!

Question about file security?

Is there anyway to make an individual folder or file ''password'' secure on a windows xp system? And I'm not refering to going through a pass word when logging on to the computer.

If you are using XP = How to password protect the contents of a compressed folder and how To Use Compressed (Zipped) Folders in Windows XP = Files and folders in compressed folders can be protected by using a password. (click here) = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306531/E...

Another free one = http://www.cypherix.com/cryptainerle/ind... = ''It allows you to password protect small folders up to 25mb in size. As you install it, it asks you to pick a password ,once installed create a new folder on the desktop and drag it into the box, once in there ,close the program and by theclock you get a small gold triangle, right click that to exit the exit completely.

StealthMode = Enter your password and drag and drop the folder onto the program icon to unlock/lock it. =

my f/wall is windows and when i just tried to find out what was happening i was asked to dowload a registration???iwas told that access was denied.my computer has been running extremely slow for a couple of wks now (i may smash it up anytime soon . sincerely junkstreet1.............

Hi yahoo ,norton security have setup f/wall without permission.?noton

personally i think you would be better off using the norton firewall over the wondows firewall

the windows firewall is very poor in protection and only has inbound protection

running two firewalls will cause some problems

if you dont want to use the norton firewall it can be disabled

Hi yahoo ,norton security have setup f/wall without permission.?stinger

There is no security on the internet. There is a presumption of security. And people buy it. But it is the internet, if you want to keep something to yourself, never put it ona computer that accesses the World Wide Web.

I can build a website that says Your computer passes all of our Security Tests perfectly! Thank you for purchaseingt our product, and don't forget to renew soon.

60,000 PCs at $58 a year, thats a good reason to write a virus.
norton will do that unfortunatly, i had it once and it interfeard with everything, even changing my internet homepage.

if you get avg security it will do more than norton and you can get the free edition with avg.

About sharing and security ? please heeeeelp...?

hi .. about shared folders ... i want to make my shared folders secured by username and password...

i meant with that .... like i have my desktop shared with another computer , if i want to enter that shared folder i'll be asked for user name and password to enter that folder ....

please help me with that ... if you have another solution just tell me ...

About sharing and security ? please heeeeelp...?panda

You can only password protect folders and windows XP professional. If you're running XP home or media edition, you'll have to find a freeware program somewhere on the Internet. Just make sure when you download the program you tell it to save to your my documents file and scan it with an antivirus scanner before you run the program. Good luck!

About sharing and security ? please heeeeelp...?suzuki

Sharing Files, Folders and Printers with other computers on your network or on the same computer needs to be allowed by the Administrator of the machine. Each person that uses the machine can be assigned their own password to get into windows and you can ''Limit'' their entry or give them ''unlimited access'' which will not only allow for file sharing..but for sharing the printer, etc. They can also be limited to certain functions like The Ability to Download or Change Programs, System Repairs and/or other administrative duties. This helps when you have an office full of workers whose duties include using the computers. Some may be allowed to get into the bosses files and some may not, depending on the limits that are established. To do this, when booting the computer, sign in as Administrator and you'll easily find the areas to make any changes necessary. Any and all changes can be done in the control panel, Administrative Tools folder. Good luck and thank you for participating. Larry Radio Shack 01-9590
instead of a user name and password, you can set up each shared folder with security to only let certain users in. This means they would have to know your password to log on with as you to get in the folder.

To set this up, right click the folder and click properties. select the security tab. Click add, and add your user name. After this, give yourself full rights.

Now go into any other users listed in the security window. Delete them.

This will ensure that only you have rights.

Also, I'm assuming this is in your home and not in a work/networked enviornment. If it IS, you wont want to get rid of administrators. :)

Remove Norton Internet Security 2003?

I am downloading NIS 2007 to my computer from Symantec's upgrade and renewal center ... I would rather have had a cd of it but I am getting the upgrade at my renewal price which is a pretty good deal...anyway my questions are:

1. Am I right in that I have to remove 2003 BEFORE

downloading 2007?

2. If I go to the control panel and select add/remove

programs and delete it there, will it get rid of ALL traces of

it?

3. Is there anything else I need to know or do to correctly do

this the right way?

I'm a newbie to all of this, so be specific ... Thanks!! :-)

Remove Norton Internet Security 2003?pc security

They should tell you before you begin the installation process if you should remove the 2003 version first - if not, don't go ahead until you contact them. If you delete it in the Add/Remove programs window, it should get rid of everything. Once you download, your Installation Wizard should tell you what to do step by step.

Most people recommend Trend Micro Anti-Virus rather than Norton which fell out of favor with lots of bugs.

  • how to flirt with a woman
  • sort of mormon repellent
  • Warning!!! Terrible firefox security flaw!!! does anyone know about it?

The browser crashed on me and I manually shut it down, then restarted the computer because it was slow. Hours later I opened it up and it asked me if I wanted to restore my session, I clicked yes and it took me directly into my email where I was when It crashed, I thought ok, it wont work and to my surprise I was able to compose a message, this email being yahoo. I have very valuable private and secure information, like bank passwords in my email, imagine if I was at an internet cafe and this happened? the next sucker could have gotten all my information. Or if it does this with bank accounts or other confidential information too.

Warning!!! Terrible firefox security flaw!!! does anyone know about it?photoshop

Its not a security flaw. Its a problem with Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Mail and Firefox.

The latest Firefox always would crash on me when I visited my Yahoo! Mail. One possible reason is the bug caused by the stand alone Yahoo! Messenger application. The Yahoo! Application State plugin must be turned off for Y-mail to work properly.

    Try the following:

(1)Type ''about:plugins'' in the Location Bar of your Firefox browser and press Enter. A list of installed plugins should come up.

(2)Look for ''Yahoo! Application State'' (''npYState.dll'') in the installed plugins list.

(3)If the file is listed, close Firefox completely. Open the C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\shared folder then rename the file ''npYState.dll'' to ''XnpYState.dll''. This will disable the plugin.

Restart your browser and test your Y-mail. Good luck.

Warning!!! Terrible firefox security flaw!!! does anyone know about it?symatec

If this is true it is not a firefox flaw. It's a yahoo flaw.

If it was hours later the session should have been

terminated for quite a while now.
you should always make sure you properly close down all software when using a public PC. If you are in an internet cafe always be sure about what you are doing (most internet cafes use IE anyway)
